Kathleen (Robinson) Lawlor, age 96, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Lawlor, Jr. to whom she was married 60 years before his passing in 2001.
Born in Fall River a daughter of the late James A. and Ellen L. (Cavanagh) Robinson she was a longtime resident of Swansea.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1938, she graduated from Thibodeau's Business College in 1939. She worked as a Bookkeeper for Negus Lumber Co. in Swansea for 18 years until retiring in 1982. A communicant of St. Dominic's Parish she was a past president of their Women's Guild in the late 1960's, she was on the Board of Directors and Secretary for 26 years at St. Dominic's Federal Credit Union. Mrs. Lawlor was a member of the former Catholic Women's Club of Fall River, Our Lady of Fatima Seniors, St. Mary's Cathedral Seniors and former member of the Swansea Democratic Town Committee during the 1960's. She was a Girl Scout Leader and its Neighborhood Chairwoman during the late 1950's.
She is survived by four children, Thomas J. Lawlor, III and his wife Gail of Swansea, Daniel J. Lawlor of New York, Kathleen L. Kuchta and her husband Joseph of New York and Virginia E. Murgo of Swansea; four grandchildren, Douglas Benoit, Luke Benoit, Kristin Kennedy and Thomas J. Lawlor IV; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Eloise E. Reinhagen, Virginia M. Paquin, Eleanor L. Chippendale, Marguerite E. Boudreau and James A. Robinson, Jr.; grandmother of the late Kathleen G. Lawlor and mother-in-law of the late Gregory Murgo.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, MA. Visiting hours from 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made in her honor to B.M.C. Durfee High School Alumni Association, P.O.
