Obituary for Mr. James G. Reardon, Jr.

January 31, 1931 - November 4, 2018
Lakeville, Massachusetts | Age 87

James G. Reardon, Jr., age 87, passed away in his Lakeville, Massachusetts home on Sunday, November 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Milford, Massachusetts on January 31, 1931, he was the son of the late James G. and Anita T. (Thorndike) Reardon. As a young boy, Jim lived in many towns across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as his father was the Commissioner of Eduction for the state. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston with the Class of 1949 and continued his studies at Northeastern University. His education was interrupted by his service in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Jim was stationed at the Naval Base in Atlantic City, New Jersey, serving as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in June of 1954.

Upon his discharge from the Navy, Jim took a position with Hughes Aircraft in California, however returned home to Massachusetts, taking a position with the Foxboro Company. While working at the Foxboro Company, Jim met his wife to be, Patricia M. Cobb. They were married on December 4, 1971 in the United Church in Walpole and made their home together in Foxboro. In 1973, Jim and Pat built their home on Baker Street in Walpole, where they raised their two sons, Matthew and Michael. During the mid-1980s, Jim realized the Foxboro Company was becoming obsolete and took an early retirement package in 1986. His early retirement allowed him to spend more time with his sons, always leading by example to teach them both valuable life lessons. He also enjoyed coaching their little league teams, where he encouraged sportsmanship over all.

Jim loved working in and around his home in Walpole. He always made sure his landscaping was just right and took care of any little repair projects as needed. As a devoted woodworker and leather man, he crafted wonderful pieces for his family to enjoy. In addition, he enjoyed painting and photography. Most of all, Jim was a dedicated family man, who always put his family first. As a devoted husband to Pat, he ensured their home was well cared for and regularly cooked dinners when she returned to work. He took great pride in both his sons, taking the time to teach them how to be good men and ensured they always did what was right. Jim was overjoyed at the birth of his granddaughters, and truly loved spending time with them. Just about a year ago, Jim and Pat settled into their new home in Lakeville, to be close with their son Michael, where Jim spent his last days surrounded by those who loved him, bringing him much comfort.

Beloved husband of Patricia M. (Cobb) Reardon.
Loving father of Matthew Scott Reardon and his wife Hue of New Market, Maryland and Michael John Reardon of Lakeville.
Cherished grandfather of Alexa M. Reardon and Abigail L. Reardon.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
