Dear Verna and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Lou was such an amazing and funny guy and his presence always made you feel better! Lou was my first trumpet teacher, and he inspired me to continue music throughout my life. As a music educator, teacher and professional trumpet player, I often look back and smile when I think of Lou and the many lessons I learned from him. I owe the start of my music career to him, and am grateful for all he has done for me and the other music students he taught throughout his life.

My condolences to the Pezzulo family. Rest In Peace Louis Pezzullo. You were one of my greatest and earliest musical influences. I will never forget the sound of the first chord we played in Band at age 11, or your furious and passionate conducting of March Slave, 1812 Overture, Victory at Sea during high school concert band, and the John Phillip Sousa marches during Thanksgiving parades and football games. Your encouragement of me as a vocalist eventually did- and still does- bring me to places I'd only dreamed of seeing. And decades later, you were still there to console me when my Dad died. Your smile and presence will remain indelibly in my heart. I'm so grateful for your influence in my life. You were truly one of the good ones -one of the very best!

Dear Verna,
Chuck and I were saddened by Lou's passing. He would make Chuck laugh from his toes while at Bristol High and RRIMEA concerts. Lou's laugh was contagious. The only thing greater than his personality was his kindness.

Mrs. P, Lou, and Mike

There are very few people in this world whose mere presence provides comfort and joy. Mr. Pezzullo was one of those people. Despite the passage of time and distance, the memories of our neighborhood, and the people who made it such a wonderful place to live, have never diminished. If anything, they've grown stronger and I cherish those (all too few) times that I was able to spend in Mr. and Mrs. P's company. His passing is deeply saddening, but the memory of his smiling face (captured so perfectly here), kindness of heart, genuineness of being, and knowledge that the house band in Heaven has a new horn have me smiling as well.

God Bless.

Dear Mrs. Pezzullo and family,
In my years of membership with the R.I. Philharmonic, I always counted on seeing that friendly face of his to cheer me up. He was the ultimate professional. Yet, he possessed great humility and class as a person which was easily seen just by watching the way he interacted with people. I will miss him very much!
